Packets left in locked van?

Just wondering Is it a UK wide requirement that absolutely NO packets get left in front footwell of the van even if you are just parking at each house for 2 seperate drop offs?
And I mean even just leaving the van (locked) for a maximum of 90 seconds to walk 30 feet from the van?

Nothing should be left in the front of the van

Do it by the book and take everything out of the back of the van.
Yes its slower but you cut off the same time everyday so whats the difference.
Just take the packets back you cant deliver.
They can dissapline you for putting them in the footwell or get sacked at a neighbouring office did.
You cant get sacked for finishing at your time and taking packets back

The only thing you can have in the front of the van is a 'working bundle'. I guess if you have a packet for a house in that bundle it would'nt be a problem.

about 18 months ago directive came out, absolutely no mail allowed in front of vehicle,

Ask me this last week and i would have told you that i used to load a few packets in the front whilst moving the van between loops and dropping them on the way.

However i was stopped and inspected by the I.B this week (100% pass thank god) so iam not so sure its such a good idea anymore

Mail is allowed in the front of a van providing it's in a small delivery pouch and the strap on the pouch is looped through a fastened seatbelt. As far as I know that's the official line as confirmed to us in an email from higher up.

I'll have to check up on that one then because I'm sure it's less than eighteen months since we were told. The DOM was just telling someone to do it a couple of weeks ago.

I agree gaz. As I previously said we were told this only a few weeks back. You can have a working bundle in the front and everything else to be kept in the back of the van.
