Royal Mail in distress?

Looking through my copy of the Daily Telegraph today I was amazed when I came to page 10 and saw the full page Royal mail advert,its about the jubilee stamps,have a look at the Union flag bunting at the top of the page it has our flag flying upside down.I know it's a sign of distress but I also believe it's an insult to the monarchy,lets hope some ones head rolls for this

This idea of the Union Jack being upside down as a sign of distress,thinking back to my seafaring days I dont recall flying the Union flag at sea rather an ensign flag which would lend itself to being inverted.Urban myth I reckon.

Judging by the state of the nation today, perhaps the Union Jack should be flown upside down permanently.
