Our Dom during WTL was telling us that leaving packets with neighbours is now not allowed even though we was told to do it last year but anyway, the question I am asking is when someone rings up and complains to customer services the office in question gets a £25 fine !!
Where does this fine come from and who pays it and where does the money come from to pay it or is it bullshit ??
or is it the DOM's bonus gets reduced by £25
My understand of this and I might be wrong is that RM use the level of compensation paid out at each office as an indicator of how well the office is or isn't doing. Less compo paid the better. The DOM has nothing really to do with it other than to ensure the minimum possible is paid out by identifying what areas need addressing.
I can assure you that OPG's will be fired for not doing the job correctly leading to the compo claims long before the DOM loses any bonuses!! the only way it will come back on the DOM is if a high level of compo remains high i.e. its his/her job to ensure its the absolute minimum... CEO's bonus etc
Apparently postcomm fines them if there are any complaints , about £15 but the new scare tactic is saying £25 and we'll come down on you like a ton of bricks. Someone thought it up recently , must have took a minute of their time during their 4 hour lunch break (9 til 1).
What will be the next scare tactic - answers in this column.
we're still delivering to neighbours and its proving very succesful as people are complaining that some parcels are not being left with their neighbours
This works ok where the neighbours get on with each other. Rather than a sticker saying 'do not leave with neighbour' , maybe we should post a postcard to each house (through d2d) to leave in the window saying 'Royal Mail , if we are out, please leave my packet with neighbour at xx else return it' . Then no postcardy - we returny
sorry.
Thing is people are so used to all the Couriers throwing their parcels over the gates and they think we will do the same.
But they are the 1st to moan when things go wrong.
Today we are delivering the Tracked Olympic tickets and not only do they want us to get a signiture from the house in question they want ID as well
So when it's a bird dressed in only a towel with her curlers in, cos you've just got her out of bed at 9am answers the door , do you still say no id no tickets. Then do you slip it in front of her! crazy dom fools.

Who told you that?? We deliver to addresses not to people, so unless that's changed and nobody has told me then I'll just deliver as normal.

Customers will moan either way.
The difference is when a customer moans that you won't leave packets on their doorstep and they have to trudge all the way to the D.O. that's all they can do....moan.
Not....get you sacked.
