Special leave/sick gripe

A few weeks ago i had a stage 2 warning,Fair enough.

In the interview the manager pointed out in the last 12 months i have had 7 special leave abscences and asked was i using special leave to mask being sick.

The 7 abscences were:

In work had a call childminder gone sick - 2 days special leave 1 with pay.

Wife's mother had heart attack - 1 day special leave.

Call at work,Eldest had bad fall in school - 6 hours without pay.

Chilminder again sick - went to work 6.30 - 8.30 then had to leave to take baby off partner who had no choice to work,Did this for 3 days - 18 hours unpaid in total over the 3 days.
Losing 18 hours pay in 1 week was also a killer the following week,But had no choice to take it on the chin.

Every instance i offered to swap days off,I had no holidays left but was willing to lose from this years allocation,Or even work back the lost time.

We have no family atall who can look after the kids,All my partners side are 80+ and my side all work themselves.

My other half keeps 2 weeks spare and her work are very good at letting her drop everything and leave when she needs to,This last year the childminder not been as reliable as usuall and poor health with her mum and also a few illnesses with our 2 kids,So her work asking the question why cant i get the kids? Which is why i did on those days highlighted above.

The manager said in the interview,We lose too much money when we are giving special leave out,Its not good for the business,If it happens in future you need to sort something out.

At the time i never said anything to him,The more and more i now think about it i am absolutely f***ing fuming.

How can i do anything if there is nobody to look after the kids?
If i get a call from the school am i to say send him to hospital,I cant come until i have finished my round?
Am i to leave the kids on their own to look after themselves?

He says Royal mail can refuse special leave and because our office has so many people with young kids especially the special leave rate is high and he will start refusing special leave,What the hell happens in future if i have no option to look after the kids?

Makes me f***ing sick,Really really pisses me off.

Sounds like more 'tough love' from Royal Mail managers. They're such an understanding, accomodating bunch aren't they.
