If you get caught peeing discreetly in a hedge or up against a wall and a member of the public reports you is there an official way of dealing with it? basically is it sackable?

asking around the office it seems RM only have a problem if its done in an inappropriate place i.e. a lift, inside a building communal area etc

Would using a bottle make any difference?

Anyone care to suggest how common this sort of thing is?

if you take a relief break anyware besides a designated private area, ie, a public loo then you are committing a criminal offence for which you will receive a criminal record and prob put on the sex offenders register

i have represented some one on just this matter, as royal mail failed to include welfare stops on the deliveries within the outdoor duty span, i advised the staff to come back to the office to relieve themself if a public convenience was not at hand

at the disciplinary with the member i accused royal mail (manager) in their policy of not including relief breaks as being an agent provocateur

the charges were dismissed against the member

Someone in my office got a 2 year suspended dismissal for this, the simple answer is your manager needs to find an appropriate place for you to go to the toilet otherwise you go back to the office

I don't think you'd be placed on the sex offenders register etc, I'm not even sure its illegal. This has been in the news recently

Section 4 and 4A Public Order Act 1986 (level 5); Section 5 Public Order Act ... Indecent exposure is also a crime under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 if intentional but define intentional

you are having a pee behind a bush, a school girl sees you and reports you.
you are then branded a nonce. guilty until proven innocent, no smoke without fire and all that

in the 21st century it is unexceptable to relieve one self in public, provisions need to be made

I didn't really want to get into the legality of it more how RM would react if a member of the public complained that they'd seen there postie in some bushes or down an alley discreetly having a pee.

For the older members here is "Postmans/womans Bladder" a myth or is it likely after years of trying to hold it?

Probably get put on the sex offenders register? really?? your making that up now, that is highly unlikely, very highly unlikely, yes you will get into trouble and most highly likely get a on the spot fine but i really dont see you being charged with a sexual offence, you have any statistics to back up that claim?

Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 - section 47: this provides that any person who urinates or defecates in circumstances so as to cause, or be likely to cause, annoyance to any other person shall be guilty of an offence and liable, on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding level 2 (currently £500).

No mention of sex offenders register there.
