Good Evening everyone,
I start my new role as "Postman with Driving" on Wednesday, and was hoping someone could help answer my very basic query. Sorry for sounding incompetant here :)
Basically, I understand it is a weekly pay every Friday, however, I am under the impression that I have to work a week in advance. Could anyone tell me if this is correct? And also, as I start on 16th, would my first pay be Friday 25th? Or 1st July.
Also, apologies if I have posted this in the wrong area.

Pay will be 18th.
But any overtime performed in that week will be in the next week's pay.

Are you used to walking distance etc.
Have a look through (or search) for some threads for beginners and footwear / socks etc.

To be honest I quite enjoy walking, not sure if that will change after a week or so haha. One thing I meant to ask was, what do you wear on your first day. I was told you can't order your uniform.until you have started? All help much appreciated.

just phone them up on the number in your wage slip. i didnt know if i was going to stay so left it a week, turned up 4 days after i ordered it. insist on shoes though, if you slip in your own footwear you're not covered.

ill kill that bovine excrament dead
your shoes need to be ordered when you had your royal mail induction
on your first day speak to the office rep or health and safety rep on ordering the shoes
royal mail footware is not classed as personal protective equipment unles working on loading bays, fork lift drivers etc, but does come under

If its a walking job, try to wear some loose fitting trousers/ shorts. I wore jeans on my first day - great for plodding around in and general use but shocking for walking 4 - 6 miles in !
Take a bottle of drink with you.
Dont fill up on fluids before you go.

Can't think of any clothing less suitable than jeans to be honest.. hot, the minute any water gets on them they turn to the weight of concrete, take forever to dry..
