Flogging a dead horse?

Flogging a dead horse

Everyday, in every post office around the country, millions of dead horses arrive at the counter for their regular beating. They are whipped with 'Have you thought about our Car Insurance', flogged with 'How about an Instant Saver' and beaten to death with 'Would you like an SD for your Sympathy Card?'.
Our customers are masochistic. They keep coming back still not wanting what you had to try and sell them last week.

I applaud them for their patience.

The reason they come back is because the Post Office provides them with something they want not something they don't need.

I wish that POL would at least try a new and exciting concept I have in mind for a busy (constant queues) Crown Office.

That is remove all sales literature, remove all sales chatter and let the customer buy what they want to buy.

I am positive this would be a success but with the unfortunate side effect of having to do away with various bods around the office. FS springs to mind. Of course there may be a small cost saving in this regard leading to the further success of my totally original idea.

May the horse be with you

Better still, let's have a conference at Earls Court or somewhere expensive like that......
No, that would be foolish and irresponsible wouldn't it - after all we've got to cut costs, haven't we?

Don't start me off on Earls Court - my Branch Manager spent a whole day finding out where all the other Branch Managers in this Area were staying, and trying to get in to the same hotel.

and did said Branch manager return from Earls Court envigorated and ready to enthuse the branch staff , because surely us lesser mortals have got it all wrong and all these startegies and Network Transformation will surely turn the Post Office into a vibrant and exciting place to work that makes money all round.

wooosh , a pig just flew past my window! (need flying pig smiley!)

I was just wondering how much money was spent on the personalised stuff each person going to the Earls Court has received. Is it absolutely necessary?

I thought that was something to do with the Horizon system that doesn't work in selected offices?
