T.A entitlement
Hi guys. Can anyone please shed some light on what my entitlement is as a reservist. I work fulltime with royal mail and am finding it difficult to get Saturdays off through my DOM. I would be lucky to get 4 saturdays a year. How do I go about booking special leave etc?

Your paid special leave entitlement is equivalent of annual camp plus 6 weeks, now downside is it is not compulsory for you dom to give you the time offParke9037 wrote:Hi guys. It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

even though their is no statute legislation to force an employeer to release time for reservist duties, the above statement from Royal Mail should be rammed in your doms face and escalate it informally to begin with to the DSM or HR

I have even thought about trying to get moved to a 4 day week with a static sat off but I don't think it is possible.

With pay for the two week Annual Active Service Commitment. A maximum of nine days per year unpaid leave may also be granted to cover travel to and from attendance at the six mandatory weekend camps. Any further leave must be taken from the individuals annual leave entitlement. In order to qualify for military leave, then individual must show evidence to their line manager on each occasion that leave is required (e.g. call-up papers).

I have a similar query, my office are letting have the 2 weeks off for camp, but are unsure about whether it is paid or unpaid, (think I am the only reservist to work there, under current managers. Does anyone know know where I should point them for verification? That is, is there a printed document or a link to a a page on one of the many websites RM have? Any assistance would be appreciated, thanks
