Could anyone inform me on delivery staff policy for wearing radio earphones for working indoors and out on deliveries?.
I have been wearing them for 12 years with no problem,my manager who is a renowned bully has singled me out,and said earphones are banned!
I would appreciate the official line on this.

It 'could' be argued that due the H&S,fire alarm ect that they shouldn't be worn.
There 'could' also be issues when out on deliveries as well,traffic,possible bandit attack ect.
Not aware of any official line,maybe someone else may know.

I have always had the radio on whilst going about my walk, but only in one ear.
that way I can still hear what is goin on ( unless of course I want to cop a deaf'en when called out to by a customer who has just found their p739 ) manager did a couple of years ago state that they were now banned on delivery etc, but no one stopped using them.

Not prolific in ours, but a couple of people wear them on deliveries.

I asked this question at induction. The answer then was out on deliveries it's fine, not in the DO. I used to wear only in one ear too.

In our mail centre only one ear piece allowed , none at all when working on machinery, enforced by CWU H & S reps with management backing.

Just take them off for a couple of weeks and then they'll have forgotten. Don't make an issue of it or they won't forget.
