oldest stamp seen?

seen one of these on a packet today

32 years old, and whoever used it has lost a lot of its value through inflation.
in good condition and unused, it may have been worth more than the contents of the packet

Had a parcel a while back that was covered in stamps including 1/2p's, can't even remember when they stopped being legal tender.

I get the 1/2p stamps quite lot. On one walk I do there's a stamp collector and he often gets old and unusual stamps on his mail.

British stamps issued since decilalisation on 15th February 1971 are staill valid and I occasionally see forty year old ones.
The decimal half penny was withdrawn in December 1984, 12½p second class and 20½p overseas rate being the last such ½p stamps issued in the preceding year.
Stamp collecting was at its height around 1990 so regularly used are stamps from around then that were bought by those wrongly thinking there would be a demand for them in the future.
I've seen Belgian and USA stamps of the 1950s used a couple of years ago !

i reckon ebay has caused stamp collectors to be able to get stamps they'd never have seen before in volumes that effectively kill the price for them.

In our local town there is an auto factors that started life as a farm supply store and we went in for some car bits, my missus noticed a milking claw on the shelf which the base where the four pipes attach .

When she picked it up it was priced in pounds shillings and pence,, that had been there a while and avoided a stock take or two.
