advice about atos

hello everyone
I've been with royal mail for 15 odd years and still enjoy the job really , well the outdoor bit
but am concerned with the use of trolleys being pushed on to us
I have been diagnosed with arthritis in my ankle by a consultant at the hospital and
just wanted to know if would be worth contacting atos and what the chances would be of being
able to carry on using a bike as there is less pressure on ankle compared to pushing

RM are trying to phase out trolleys.
The favored progression is
trolleys replacing bikes
& ultimately vans +trolleys replacing trolleys.

you might be able to get something sorted for your situation
Does your office still have many bicycles?
If not a golf trolley with bag drops might be a way to go.

and yes there are still a few bikes being used and my manager by the sound of it one of the better ones!
but with a revision looming and they could always replace him
i was just wondering if would be a good idea to get the ball rolling and if atos
what be any help?
the arthritis has been confimed by x ray and its just a case of keeping the right equipment
im not looking for any other help or being treated different in any other way

Despite my picture I would always recommend getting ATOS involved if you want to try and get an "Alternative" duty structure. The worst that could happen is that they disagree and you'll be where you are now.

However, I would also ask for a report from your GP, it might cost but if he agrees with you its extra ammo and could help a great deal.

ATOS French owned company I had dealings with them and they are so RM biased ! Sorry to hear of your ailment but if you are old and they offer you IHR , take it .All they are interested in is you out on delivery no matter what.

In my experience working for royal mail if you cannot fulfil your contractual hours stay off sick. attos is payed over 80 pounds by royal mail to come up with a reason why you should come back to work .
