Area H and S Rep

We had a bulletin come through on Thursday about this vacancy. I'm keen to apply, but have no idea what the role entails. Obviously I have to ask why there is no-one in the role, and find out why the last rep (if there was one) has stood down from the position as I don't want to inherit a poisoned chalice so to speak. I know that training towards a diploma is involved, which is the carrot that attracted me towards applying in the first place (imo you can never have enough strings to your bow) but I was just wondering if there are any reps currently performing this role that could give me some advice or a heads up as to what I could expect? I'd be very grateful.

I would suggest that you ask whether there are any local health & safety reps going first, learn to walk before you run, you can still achieve diplomas in the local job.

I did think it'd be a big jump to go straight to Area Rep tbh. I shall ask our office rep about training courses and such like first thing tomorrow.

8 people, all with experience of being a rep, have applied. I've decided not to...but it turns out that our office doesn't have a Workplace H and S Rep, so maybe that's the route for me.
