I'm unsure precisely what your question is.
Are you suggesting that if you happen to be lucky enough to have friends and / or a family then you needn't work Saturdays ?

The only friends and family i've heard of is cheap insurance at post office or stuff like that, my joint isn't very family friendly.

Royal Mail has an obligation to look into providing family friendly duties where an employee has a specific need.
For instance if your duty is 7 - 3pm but you need to collect your kids from school at 3pm, they could consider changing your duty to 6.30 - 2.30 assuming it didn't impact on quality of service or compromise the USO or open a can of worms where everyone wanted the same thing so they could get home in time for Dickinson's Real Deal.
Every Saturday off? You'd have to have a very good reason.

Need to apply to management or planners for every saturday off. Funny how they dont work any saturdays but be-grudge us 1 in 4 rather than 1 in 6.

At this moment over 450 family and friends have applied and it's Royal Mail safeguard should London workers reject the Olympicis deal.

The other one is when a worker seeks family friendly working and that has nothing to do with friends.

We'll have them soon all part time working, starting delivery just after dropping children off at school and finishing just before picking them up .

8 years now and no Saturdays off yet - excepting holidays of course.
