How much are we charging TNT etc. for DSA

Moya has recently talked about a £1billion loss over the last 4 years.....

it was a well know ridiculous situation that every item of DSA mail was generating a 2p per item loss... on a postbag of 60million items a day and perhaps 40% of that postbag being DSA items would soon lead to losses of that sort of magnitude.

if DSA is now being charged at a 'competitive' rate (ie would be profitable to us rather than loss making) then our profits (and we have made profits despite these losses) are surely going to rise massively from now on...!!??....

this is without even considering the 25%+ rise in non DSA mail charges to the customer and that the company has no longer got to make up the pension deficit any more saving them another £300million+ every year!!

i suppose (cynically) this just going to make us all the more 'saleable'

so r.m aint going to pay to get the pension up to date. yes it has been noted that the government will take on the pension, but as the country is broke and looking for any ways to save a penny. will i get a r.m. pension, i rather doubt it . and if we do then it be nothing like what it used to be

Well dippy dave (Cameron) has had 30 odd billion of our pension assetts to try and plug the hole in the dyke. (not his Mrs, you know what I mean), so if there is no pension, a sit in at his country estate might change his direction.

My thoughts also.
The dsa losses/lack of profit that we show makes us appear that we need saving (privatizing).

After privatization the dsa subsidy would be scrapped? instantly making the flotation appear successful.
nothing else I have heard would explain why a cash starved government is throwing revenue/tax payers money away.

My thoughts exactly.... another example of the 'smoke and mirrors' tactics that seem to be used these days....
i do however think they may have mis-timed the 'trick' this time.... we have just re-entered a recession which will make the timing of any sell off look to be impractical (as was the conclusion with Mandelson last time) and in the meantime we will become highly profitable making the need to privatise us anymore look unnecessary...!!
