Hi guys new to me today just come back from hozzie and ive been told im borderline been severely deaf what should i do about this, do i tell royal mail or not?

yes you have to tell royal mail

you need to consider fire alarms, WTLL sessions, RM propoganda

but the disability status will have no bearing on you work capability as you can still deliever mail,

I'd like to offer you an alternative response.

Speak to the Local and/or Area CWU Health and Safety Rep and discuss your abilities with them first. Let them set the wheels turning into ensuring that reasonable adjustments are made.

Taking the direct Royal Mail route will more than likely result in making your working conditions worse or ending them prematurely.

Each case in each environment would need to be looked at individually so it would be foolhardy to give specifics. I would say however that any workplace adjustments can be controlled, the interaction with customers/colleagues less so.

totally agree

in my office we have a lady who is 100 % deaf

she does a delivery every day with no problems

we just speak to her very slowly as she is very good at lip reading

its just that just because some one is disabled, they do not need to be wrapped up in cotton wool or have a big sign around their neck saying they are any different from the person next to them

Someone with hearing becoming progressively worse or having become deaf recently will likely need more attention than someone having had the condition for a considerable time.
