On the sick

Dear colleagues,I am off sick at the moment with a bad back.Went to the doctors and he signed me off for 2 weeks.Just over a week into my sick leave the DOM phones me up and says he would like me to call into the DO,which he seems to request that my colleagues do every friday if they are on the sick.He is also refering me to ATOS which I do not have a problem with but on the same token have heard some awful reports about them,so not really sure what to expect off them.Can he make you gall into the DO if your signed off sick? Surely this cannot be right.Any advice.Thank you

ATOS were fine with me, they even arranged physio which I took in works time. If you really are unable to work then there's nothing to fear.

Just be prepared for dirty tricks from your managers who'll try to get you to do more work than ATOS suggest.

their is no obligation for you to go into work for a discussion on your sickness if requested by your dom
that process is not part of the attendance proceedure

all you need to do is keep them informed once a week by telephone on how long you think your sickness will last

tell your dom you are happy with the ATOS referal

Atos were very good when I was off for six weeks and arranged a good back to work plan, My Dom was also very good.

ATOS were fine with me too, I think they have a bad rep due to a few people having bad experiences with them but in general I think they do a pretty good job!

If you have a Doc's note for 2 weeks,tell your dum not to call you until the 2 weeks is up,and if things change you will call him.I broke my leg and my dum got me back on light duties to early because of ATOS, It broke for a second time on same break, I then took 6 months off,and sued RM for £14000,am still working for RM ,they hate me,but cannot touch me.Stay in the rules,and let RM trip themselves up.
