Revision and seniority and holding pt jobs aside for pick !
Ok
Revision has begun in our office
Last time the old rep kept 6 Jobs aside for pt ers regardless of seniority ?!
It turned out that pt ers with less seniority than me got their own round whilst myself and other ft ers remained spare even though we had seniority
All routes are 4 hr spans
So ips dictates ft rounds over pt rounds
This repick it should be done solely on seniority correct?
So if you are senior you pick a round
Regardless of ft or pt
Manager says we will talk about this ?!
I get impression he's trying to please the pt ers tough luck we all have to be spare and work our way up!!

you will still need f/t floaters and reserves so some f/t staff will have to choose them but apart from that it should be seniority.

Yeah but that should fall with seniority
We have a good mix but it annoyed people before that this method was used against seniority

How can you 'please' the Part Timers?mandelsons_toenail wrote:Ok

The problem is that if you are PT then (six hour for example) how can you be a 'float , spare, reserve'? etc. You don't have time.
The solution; assign walks with disregard to seniority. It's the only way.#
Now ; myself as a 30 hr part timer would love and laugh my head off to be a reserve. Why ; because I would never complete even half of a new walk everyday

were going into a revision,,,have been told 25% of walks WILL be part timers walks,,,,,so quite a few full time and way more senior will be spare

not hard to do apart from the floaters and reserves that are there to cover f/t, the rest of the duties are picked on seniority otherwise disagreement in and no revision simple, members vote this in not managers

Isnt that the 75-25 % f/t - p/t split in the agreement though. So for every 4 walks, 3 are f/t and 1 is p/t. Add this into getting everyone who wants it a 1 in 4 saturday then you have reached the targets. Surely everyone would be happy with that.centenaryman wrote:were going into a revision,,,have been told 25% of walks WILL be part timers walks,,,,,so quite a few full time and way more senior will be spare

Re: Revision and seniority and holding pt jobs aside for pic
BT 2010 requires the demise of seniority. It is the elephant in the room that the union officials will not mention or acknowledge.
Management and union will cling to the fact that seniority will apply within the FT/PT split but the de facto result will be that PT's with 2 weeks service will get fixed duties whilst FT's with 40 years in will not get the duty they want and some with 20 years or less service will end up as reserves . Well they did mention "winners and losers", but they never came out and said 'we negotiated away seniority'.

To certain extent it depends on how PT duties are structured, if you have prep and deliver delivery duties for a 6 hour day 30 hr week PT then they may well be smaller than the prep and delivery element of a 40 hourIPS prep deliver duty. In that situation you could have X amount of duties at 30 hour week and X amount of 30 hour reserves. That would then need a seperate repick for 30 hour staff.

Well
6h 40 is a pt day
Prep and deliver 4 hour span
8h or 9 or 10 is pt er day
Ips prep and deliver
4 hour span
I will get the office to man the gates if they push it again

Just watch how your revision works if you have any number of PT staff (the more the merrier)

Re: Revision and seniority and holding pt jobs aside for pic
hi,,,probably going over old ground here,,,,,,,but,,,,,as ive mentioned b4,,,were on the long path to a park an loop revision,,,ive said they want a 75% 25% split in full time part time duties,,,i dont really have a problem with that,,,,but this morn were told that management and union reckon we have to have the re-sign done fairly,,,this will be,,,3 full timers pick,,,then a part timer picks,,,,then 3 full timers pick,,,then a part timer will pick,,,so on and so on,,,talking in the region of 50 duties give or take does this seem ok,,,,,,,,,our union rep gave it up a month or so back,,,his deputy is long term sick,,,,,so were a bit lost as to the hows and whys.
on a funny side the "planner" could not stay yesterday,,,,,,a local office thats recently had p/l has been failing badly so he had to go delivery there
got to be ironic that has
