starting next weeks door to doors early!!

was in our office today and noticed someone had fished out next weeks door to doors, put them together (3 lots) threw them off and delivered them today????

is this ok????... does it matter???.. are royal mail just happy the guy is delivering them? or do they have to go on a certain week/day??

im sure if everyone had the option to deliver them on a bright and sunny saturday, where you want to finish as early as possible... you would just laugh and worry about them the week after....... so i say just let the guy do what he wants. everyone was finished for 12.30pm where he was out till 3pm.

whats your view/opinion people..... or what is the rule?

this happens in my office all the time and it should not be aloud to happen. but trying to tell these idiots the damage they are doing by not doing the job properly is like trying to get blood out of a stone

My opinion is he might have a very good personal reason, might be against RM policy, people finishing early shows management that they are under worked and could collapse a duty.If you want to finish early why can he not choose to finish late.

Surely the contract is meant to be starting Monday. What would happen if postie comes in Monday morning and finds 1 lot of the d2d's have been cancelled due to some reason and not to be delivered anymore. And it does happen sometimes. Postie doing this is only get themselves into possible trouble imo and if i was the rep i'd be either telling them if they were a member (as i wouldnt want to represent them in some kind of disciplinary case over something so petty) or if not i'd tell management to announce to everyone that d2d's are meant to start on contract date whereas not naming the postie as not to get them into trouble.

D2doors should be done as per contract but it is not unknown for posties to do some of next weeks on Saturday. I can't see an issue with it myself though with some time dated mailshots perhaps both the organisation paying for the service and management might !

me personally, i couldn't care less what he does. if it makes his job easier then good luck to him. he now doesn't have the problem of going to the manager everyday next week saying he is struggling to prep them and deliver all his mail in his time...... i have done his duty in the past and its pretty tough. it has over 1300 drops so the prepping is non stop from when you walk in (you get 1/2 hr help). the reason why he done them today is that his bag drops are closed on a saturday so he gets a van. he has to deliver over 200 door to doors a day and 1 of the contracts next week was a book (very heavy) so he used his head and thought he might aswell take advantage of the van and deliver them.

doesn't sound so bad when you hear his reasons...... and he doesn't do this every week.

Its amazing when you read on here the complete idiots that exist!! I thought surely theres no one as stupid as the people in my office out there but unbeliveably there is!
We have one person in our office who brings his family in on a saturday AFTER hours to prep ALL the next weeks door to doors! Our dom will stand there and watch as wife passes 1 door to door to 7 year old who then passes onto dad to prep.. You really have to see it to believe it. On many occasions if door to doors have arrived early in the week for the following week this postie will take all door to doors home for his wife to fold and put into boxes then postie will call in back home in the van after he has finished his duty on a saturday and prep them...

Both of them are a huge no no. People who dont work there shouldnt be in the office at all (it breaks so many rules) and if dom is letting it happen then it needs reporting to their manager. Also taking d2d's home is surely a conduct issue as they are now live mail.

one of the duties i cover on my floating duty.
the walk holder comes in up to 2 hours early,never takes a break and makes up all the D2Ds
even worse,its an easy duty. so i come in with my D2Ds prepped.take and break and always done for my time without issue.
