I was wondering if anybody knows how much the political contribution is that we pay as part of our union subs. Apparently you can stop having it deducted from your wages each week if you so desire. Not everyone in the CWU wishes to make a donation to the Labour party each week.

It's (see post below),and yes you can get it stopped,but apparently it effects the amount of money the CWU can use on political campaigns,I think it includes our branches as well.
Any activity of a political nature has to be paid for through the political fund/levy
The political levy is vital to defend our industry and those who work in it otherwise we wouldnt be able to lobby MP'S engage with political parties , goverement etc etc. Without the political levy we would be limited to dealing with the employer to progress to defend the mbrs and our industry.
