Fed Up

I've been a collections postie at my local delivery office now for approx 3 years. When I joined I was told I could make up my contract hours (20) to full time hours quite easily through overtime on deliveries.

Now up until last June that was true. Then my local office took on a lot of temp 6 month workers and my OT dried up.

Then in January I decided to do my OT at a different DO. Again all was well again until the beginning of April when again this office took on loads of 6 month temps and now it looks like my OT has dried up again.

I cannot live on just 20 hours and have asked for more but apparently there are never any vacancies anywhere!!!

I am well cheesed off and am now looking elsewhere for employment. I like my job and enjoy working for RM but I hate being messed about and not being able to pay my bills.

I WANT WORK!!!

Im with you there, not that we've taken any temps on but the o/t i was getting has dried up from 10+ hours a week to 1-2 hours per MONTH. That and not knowing which duty im doing from day to day or day off im getting each week is a real PITA.

OT seems to have dried up everywhere.... I used to be able to get hours most days now looking at the OT sheet I've done about the same amount of OT since Jan 1st as I used to get in a good WEEK!

I think that this is a structural change within RM and OT as a means of earning additional money has gone.

we have got as much overtime in our office as we want! the reason being is our jobs were planned way to big by the planner, he then went & we were left with huge park & loop duties! the management want the mail delivered so they must pay! many of us have never been so well off!

Yep, unlimited in our office. Apparently ours is the model for future revisions as well.

Loads in our office as well all because the park and loop duties are too big so people are constantly cutting off if they don't want to claim.

There's plenty of cut-offs (both walks and driving duties) for us in our office if we waat them. We've also had a "successful " P&L revision in our office....

There's a pattern developing here

Yep plenty of overtime in my office also, They even need a nightshift at the moment, and people to come in early on overtime for sorting, yes this working perfectly.

Credit for wanting work were in my office so many are shy of it, unfortunately Royal Fail does not recognise good hard workers
