Moving and P&L

There have been various levels of rumours going back years that our office is going to move. I've ignored them. With this P&L revision coming in RSN there have been a couple of credible people saying that RM might take this opportunity to sort lots of things out a move being one.

SO, if we do get moved I'm trying to get a handle on how its likely to effect us. All info at the moment points to us moving 'out of area'.

Firstly people have said that RM will pay an amount to people who have to travel further to the new office. Is this the case? and if so hows it worked out? some have said it's an £800 payment!!!

I have no experience of P&L other than the nightmare that I read about on here. It appears to me that if we move out of area, that we'll be leaving the new office at rush hour. If we are required to come back then it'll be at school rush hour. Is all of this thing taken into consideration when walk lengths are determined?

Are there any other issues that people have come across with being an out of area P&L office or on an office move.

Oh yes, it's not pleasant, getting back to your office by 2:45, finishing off then getting a bus home with lots of hyper kids , I used to be home by 12 daily until they closed our office and merged it with one 4 miles away. Payments up to £1900 have been given in our office depending how far you have to travel. Good luck, you'll probably hate it .

Would you happen to know how the basics of this is are worked out? is there an official document/policy for instance?

Yes there is , I have my copy here but its too complicated, it is on this site somewhere , just search this site for travel expenses and you will find it. Basically put in your postcodes from your home to your old office , then to your new office, if its further to go then you are quids in, if not you get the booby prize of just £150.

payents are worked out on change of distance from the old office to the new office
if you get a van home/lift then you shouldnt get paid
payments should run for 2 or 3 years in 6 monthly payments IIRC.

One obvious question, a bloke in the office says he's gonna 'move' the second he knows where the office is moving to ensure he can maximise any payment... yes there theres always 1!! RM have never come across as stupid to me so I guess that they have this one covered?

LOL it could be a bit like the getting the kids into your preferred school thing,dodgy addresses and all that.

Theres potentially if a move goes ahead money involved.
