It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Ive just read part of the family friendly agreement and it states that it only includes children with disabilities up to the age of eighteen, so what happens when they turn eighteen and are still at college?????
I married my wife for her looks, but not the one she gave me when i said i was going to be a postman.

Well considering they are classed as an adult, what exactly would you expect?

This is a highly significant post and I heard on the grapevine that the management are gonna try to weed through family friendly employees everywhere to see where they can cut down.

Be aware if you're a carer you don't need to tell them anything except the person you're caring for is disabled. I've heard theyre asking allsorts of qurestions but theyre not supposed to and you don't need to answer. Always take a witness with you

Did HR come?
Does anyone else know about this going on in their office?

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/18/section/12" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Work and Families Act 2006

Flexible working

(1)Section 80F of ERA 1996 (statutory right to request contract variation) is amended as follows.
(2)In subsection (1), for paragraph (b) substitute—
“(b)his purpose in applying for the change is to enable him to care for someone who, at the time of application, is—
(i)a child who has not reached the prescribed age or falls within a prescribed description and in respect of whom (in either case) the employee satisfies prescribed conditions as to relationship, or
(ii)a person aged 18 or over who falls within a prescribed description and in respect of whom the employee satisfies prescribed conditions as to relationship.

Basically that amendment increased the scope to cover anyone who is a designated carer.

A carer is defined as an employee who is, or expects to be, caring for an adult who is married to, or the partner or civil partner of the employee; or is a near relative of the employee; or falls into neither of those categories, but lives at the same address as the employee.
