Hi
I've only been working for RM about 4 months and on Saturday I went over on my ankle while out delivering. The doctor said I've torn my small ligaments and I shouldn't do prolonged walking or standing for at least 2 weeks?
Because I'm new and a part timer I phoned my line manager to tell them I would be willing to come into do any work I can (but obvs not my duty). They have told me to go on the sick but will this mean I get a stage warning and not get SSP??
Please can one of you lovely people give me some advice as I really don't want to go on sick?

Not in your first year, only statutory sick pay is available until you've been with RM for a year.
You only get full pay after being working for a qualifying time. ( A Year I think)
If you're sick for 2 weeks, then you will get SSP for those 2 weeks. I don't think you will get company sick pay as you haven't been there long enough. When it's an accident on duty they may be able to overrule this. Not 100% on that though. Unfortunately, it's at the manager's discretion whether he gives you a warning after an AOD. Any decent manager wouldn't IMO. They wanted to give me one until I gave a manager a piece of my mind and basically went ape sh*t at him.
Definitely call the manager back and get ERICA done. That should be done ASAP after any accident.
No they haven't mentioned anything really, especially not an ERICA? I did it on Sat and went into work yesterday and was told I should have phoned in instead of going in?? Oh and yes I was wearing the Cat boots! I have to speak to the line manager in the morning to let him know how the ankle is but as I don't recover as fast as Superman I'm guessing they will tell me to go on sick as there won't be anything for me to do?
Tell your manager you want to fill out the accident book. With RM it's Erica, all done online. As you will be off for more than 4 days I think a RIDDOR also has to be filled in. Pretty sure someone will correct me though, I'm old and often get my time lines mixed up It really should have been filled in on Saturday, Monday at the latest.
A RIDDOR is now over seven days, not counting the day of the accident.
Inform your Manager that there are very specific legal obligations he must adhere to if your absence is to reach RIDDOR status and inform him that in this case it will. Then ask him to fill in the ERICA with you and undertake the accident investigation. Only a very stupid Manager will refuse you then.
You may also be able to get employment support allowance for a couple of weeks, contact the job centre people. 0845 6088770

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
I will speak to my line manager in the morning and tell him I want to put it in the accident book (ERICA). Hopefully I can still go in and do something that doesn't require me to do prolonged walking?
I really appreciate your help with this, wasn't expecting anyone to reply so quick if I'm honest. I will let you know what happens!
Expect an excuse not to put it into ERICA, anything not entered within twenty four hours will incur a penalty. Your task is to explain that the penalty for not doing so will be greater.
Do not suggest going in to work until after the accident book entry otherwise your stance will have failed.
Always the same in RM. Never explain to newbies what should be done when there's an accident. Done same with me after mine a couple of months into the job. Same scenario, I told manager morning after my accident, didn't feel too bad, (we'll do accident report in morning) so went out on delivery, next day knee was swollen and sore, had to take time off, therefore ERICA wasn't filled in. Now they have no record of my accident, which made it harder when it came to my retirement and getting Industrial Injuries, luckily it showed on my sick record as being off with a knee injury, so that went in my favour
