HI, A van share team (one driver,one walker),worked to there "time" one day last week.they fetched back half of yorkie full of undelivered packages.
they both got "suspended" the day after.my question is could the walker say he wanted to complete his duty,but couldnt because he cannot work without the driver (iam not sure if they told the line manager or not before they went out on delivery that they coudnt complete?)

You are supposed to be a double act and work together to the best of your ability and knowledge of your duties.
Just do your best and if time gets the better of you , like it does if you have too many 739's or do too much jibber jabber, then you are ok to bring back what you can't do.
We are only human , not robots. We are told to do the mail rather than the packets. It helps if you notify your dom if it looks like you are going over, so I tell him EVERY day to be on the safe side. Sounds like your dom or lm has got his eyes on promotion or a brown nose.
Just tell him you are going down with something and threaten to take a month off and he'll soon drop the charges

If what I read is right, you're suggesting that one half of a team may want to work over, whilst the other doesn't - in which case - tough, if you don't wish to extend you don't have to, it's the managers job to find a solution for the other guy to extend or for you to work to your time etc.

We've been told if we don't wish to extend we have to inform them before we leave as we can't bring stuff back, as that will be classed as wilful delay. Problem is as soon as you tell them then they start the bullshit, timing you and throwing all manner of figures in a hope you'll back down and just take everything, fuckwits.

What were they "suspended" for ? Failing to work over their contracted hours?

It should get thrown out. It's at worse, failure to comply with procedure, not wilfull delay

the driver is in dispute with the DIM,she is on" friends and family"(full time),but the DIM says you cant be full time and be on "friends and family." so has been made
part time by the DIM.(so it is going to tribunal.) the driver doesnt want to work past her time,so she told a manager, and she took all her packages out,then when it got to her time she fetched most of them back,so why did they both get suspended?

the line manager she told is a trainee. (in fact the trainee line manager and the driver were the first van share team in our office!!!)

Surely the walker would have discussed working overtime with the manager before going out? If the walker wanted to work overtime and the driver didn't, surely the manager would arrange another driver?
