what would be the point of working in the callers office, you would still be on your feet

Haven't returned to work yet, and to be honest I don't want to. Ankle is killing me, but I have messed up going in to complete ERICA, should of stayed away.

No you didn't mess it up by going in to report it. About 8 years ago I had exactly the same experience and I kept in contact with them, and went in to report it on ERICA.

My advice would be to call them on Tuesday/Wednesday and advise them that (if you are of course) finding it difficult to move around other than for short periods of time, and that going into work, or working in the callers office will, in your opinion, exacerbate the injury. As long as you are still within the 7 days you can self certify no matter how much they pressurise you. However, I would go to the Doctors and get his advice, I did that and he gave a sick note for 2 weeks saying that I should keep all weight off the ankle for that time and must not walk more than 100yds. Obviously the medical advice may be different in your case.

As to it being an AOD, it SHOULD be discounted from the stage process, but it is not always. If the absence does trigger a stage and they issue it then make sure you mention it was an AOD, it won't stop the stage but it does record your viewpoint if you need it later on.

If you sick after coming back in then it will be treated as a separate absence, however on your return to work interview take a rep in, and mention that in your opinion its the result of coming back too early. Again as its connected with the AOD it should be discounted, but it might not be.

I fell over on duty after slipping over on ice. Management admitted that it was their fault as I had asked for Spikies and they didn't supply them. Still got a stage 3 interview.

The accident also has to be investigated,if it hasn't then it deffo shouldn't count towards a stage warning. A half decent rep should see to that.

Same happened with me, asked for spikies and was told they had all been handed out. Also no severe weather policy implemented. They are still denying liability 3 years later

I tripped over on Saturday, which after visiting my local A+E today I found out I have sprained my ankle and slightly torn a ligament. The manager wanted me to come into the office and fill out ERICA, which I did. I was then pressured into coming in Wednesday onward to work in the Callers Office. Does having a accident on delivery affect my sickness record, as in getting a stage warning? Also, If I go back to work then feel that I cannot cope with the work, can I go back to being sick without it being classed as an another absence?

good luck with that i fell down 14 stairs back in january.because i didnt use a handrail which i didnt know was there they said it was my fault.i was diagnosed with broken ribs and as it was my stage 3 i very nearly lost my job.i only had 4 days off in 2011 but it was still a close call. if i had the accident 4 days later i would have been removed from all stage warnings so an accident is not always a accident so be warned.

The old callers office trick . If you are getting paid for being off,this is there way of getting you in. If you are sick or have an accident my advice is tell your CWU rep and he if is up to the job he will keep you right. Stay off until your 100% at the end of the day your just a number.

i allways do an investigation into all accidents to diagnose the route cause anaylsis of the accident. the reason i do it is to add more ammo to tony ruppa and simpson and miller. That includes taking phoptographs and attaching them to the ERICA.

THE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION SIDE ROYAL MAIL LIKE TO KEEP QUIET AS A RULE, but i enforce it in my office

do we have any agreement that unless an accident has been investigated, i should not count towards the attendance proceedure.

i must say that by investigating an accident, i am doing it for the staff member, not be a royal mail policeman
