Got a conduct hearing for going off route without permission and need advice please.Basically went home for lunch after duty and before s.a. collection as we all have done for at least six years,now being told should have asked permission.

WELL THEN THE WORKING TIME DIRECTIVE STATES THAT YOU CAN TAKE YOUR BREAK away from your working enviroment

the whole revision process is now built on taking your break while you are out on delivery

They can tell you when, but not where to take your break. As long as you have factored in travel time to and from your break location.

Perhaps, and I say this tentatively could your Rep use the "Custom and Practice" argument if its been going on a while. Of course if the managers have stated in WTL or a cuddle that you should no longer be doing this then that probably wouldn't work.

No nothing has been said at all my feeling is that permission is implied.If in a grievence for being singled out.it goes any further i will put

.they stoppemaybe but as we have been able to do that for at least six years why a problem now and just me.they stopped us taking vans overnight a couple of months ago but nothing said about lunchtimes

Do you actually have a designated route for getting to/from delivery and collections that you have deviated from? In my office there are no specified routes so i don't see how it is possible to be off route

no we have no routes had finished duty then 90 minutes untill sa collection and no facilities for lungh at office so we go home for lunch

so you finished your duty then went home in the van. dont sound to good but we all done it. but they clamping down well hard now, any excuse to get rid. didnt someone else on here have the same problem ???

Yes they did, but I don't have the time to track it down, (I'm a lazy work shy, union loving postie after all

I think though, a lot of posties, and I include myself in this, don't think something is going to come in to their office until it does. Thats one of the great things about RMC at least we get advance warning and can plan ahead.
