Tricky Predicament

I am on a temp rolling three month 22 hour contract and I am getting loaned out next week to another delivery office that is 20 miles away from mine, because my delivery office has had its revision and I have became spare. I asked the manager if I could claim travel expenses, and they said I could not as I am on a rolling contract, and only fixed term contracts can claim travel expenses. They also said if I refuse to go out on loan, then they will give me my notice as there is no work for me at the office. So basically I have to decide if its going to be financially worth it to stay at royal mail (paying for the extra petrol). Should I stay or should I leave royal mail ?

I might be wrong, but that is completely bollocks and against the law for them not to pay you travelling allowances, regardless of whether you are temp or not. I no for certain in my office they sent someone to another office and he was paid, ok took a few weeks but he got it, maybe another member on here can be a bit more helpful.

First of all speak to your rep because you are being spun a line.
If they still refuse to pay excess travel tell them you will turn up at your parent D.O. at your normal start time and it will be up to them to provide transport to your neighbouring D.O....and back inside your contracted hours.

My rep was there in the office when he said it And he never said a thing. So if my rep does not want to say anything what else can I do?
I am really considering just saying no to the loan And doing my weeks notice and leaving as I am sick of being lied to by managers

Alfie I'm on a rolling contract and they do have to pay travel. If not they have to lend you a van / transport to get there.

Your rep 'may' be unaware with how it works,so inform him what you have read on here and get him to contact the area rep.

i'm on a rolling contract and got loaned out over xmas and i got travel expenses paid to me, i waited untill i had finished my 5 weeks at other office and claimed it all in one go, but you can claim it weekly if you like.

Yeah your getting lied to . I was loaned to another office for 4 months ( I jumped at it ) and at the end I claimed the whole lot in one go . Few hundred quid .

not sure but if you are being loaned your duty includes your travelling time to and from your parent office.

That means if your duty ends at 14:30, thats when you should be walking out of your parent offices door.

I was loaned out for months and worked that way, eventually they offered me a transfer which suited me down to the ground.
