good practice for changing days off
I am on holiday and just received a letter from manager explaining that on Tuesday I am being trained up on a new walk, I am keeping my old one but this is part of the revision and to make the office more flexable when people are sick. As the new walk has a different day off I will have that one off, so my day off is changing. I have no problems with flexibility in my working day but looking at past history of the way the office is run I can see that my days off will become erratic. I have got use to being able to plan my life round days off but not if they keep changing at short notice. Any guidance welcomed

You should be able to keep your rotating days off in sinc if you are bumped on to another duty.
Your rep should ensure this.
Why are 'you' being trained on it,what about the reserves?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

As far as Royal Mail is concerned everyone in the future will be a reserve regarding duties. I have been a reserve for 8 years, carried out over 40 different duties in that time, and told to do duties that I may not have done for over 2 years. Whilst I prefer the variety, I think Royal Mail are taking the pi$$ when the duties listed for the week are regularly altered. It used to be the reserves that were only affected, but not anymore. Those posties that think they have a fixed duty for life - prepare for the worst!Why are 'you' being trained on it,what about the reserves?
