Grievance Procedure

Post by mr deeds »

just a quick question
what good is a grievanece procedure against your manager...if you win what is the "punishment"lets say for the manager" seems to me there is a lot of them going on that just get left forever to resolve.

Depends on the nature of the offence, the grade of the manager in question and how well buddied he is with those that do the investigating.

Be honest, keep a record of everything and make sure your local rep is fully in the picture. The likely hood of a fair outcome is higher if those investigating the case are from outside the area, preferably outside the region and function. There are some very senior managers who without a doubt have been guilty of bullying and harassment, should have been handed a P45 but were either moved sideways or given a polite warning. Watch out for the old chestnut of YOU being charged with bring the case 'in bad faith' as there are staff members with warnings on their records through no fault of there own.

It's a bag of shite.
Half the time your grievance goes `missing in action`or if they do acknowledge it they string it out for as long as possible and then whitewash the outcome.
We had a line manager who openly went around bragging that he had the most grievnces against him in the division..so they promoted the fecker and he's now gone bullying another office as a DOM.

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Think of it like this, who do you think is instructing or intimating that they should be managing this way and then who hears the grievance? We,ve had five recently gone in in our office and not one came to anything. Three of these never got a reply one got a phone call saying " dont worry it wont happen again " and mine was never followed up after the initial interview despite multiple requests to the area CWU rep. Waste of time, neither Royal Mail or the CWU seem bothered.

Every so often I put another grievance in about managers fiddling the overtime claims. They dont come to anything but I add something like this everytime :
`I hope you take this complaint more seriously than the last I made (managerX tried to con me out of 2hrs excess, grievance dated dd/mm/yy) or the one before that (managerY tried to con me out of 15minutes excess, grievance dated dd/mm/yy).Your not very good at replying to grievances are you ? `

Needless to say, me and the DOM dont get on. But my excess claims are 99% paid correctly these days.
