packets,packets and more packets

today I had in my 4 packet bags (not large packets in York) over 120 small packets for my round.
My round consists of council houses , large families etc.
We get absolutely hammered with packets mostly on wednesdays and thursdays every week but even worse after the bank holiday.
We cut off these days every week on P/L but there are other rounds consisting of bungalows one or two occupants that have next to no packets and complete.
The Dom is forever moaning about us cutting off and these other easier rounds are completing but surely they must realise the amount of packets and parcels that some rounds are getting compared to others.
I know letters are counted and on our noticeboard it shows the percentage of letters per round on certain weeks but what about packets per round, do they get counted at all anywhere in the system because there isnt a level playing field as far as I'm concerned and how can a round with 120 packets complete in the same time as another round with 10 packets

The numbers of packets and parcels are counted too and the figures, (as accurate as the letter count), should be posted on the notice board too.

You should have had an attendance call count before your revision. You count the number of knocks per road each day for a week or two so they can plan how many attendance calls your new rounds should have and build this time into the duties.

No , that didnt happen before we went to P/L.
Wouldnt have been able to anyway because our new round was a mixture of 3 old rounds.
By the time we started the new rounds the planners were long gone anyway

No, none of this was done on our P & L either. We got four sacks full of packets/parcels today plus several too large to get in the sacks for about 1000 calls. We don't cut off, but as we are part timers get punished every so often for claiming docket (over a ridiculously low hours per day for the duty) by attempts to have our hours reduced for a week or two. The assessment of the P & L was a shoddy unprofessional affair by managers who couldn't give one.

We just work to our time and bring what we havent done back to the office, not our problem the round is too long and too heavy. Can't fit the large packets in the van anyway as van was full up, 1400 calls

I highly doubt they are counted per duty seeing as they all come in together.

We have been getting hammered on the packets as well, our manager printed out some sheets and asked us to record the number of packets each day for a month so she can get the duty adjusted.

The packets should be counted per road, so it doesn't matter what roads were on what walks before the revision. If the revision was done properly that is, which is obviously not the case.

Packets have been ridiculous this week. We deliver in a student area, and usually students == packets. However even though students have been on holiday, we've still had crap loads of packets.

Been like a mini Xmas this last week, its as if the new tax year's tax allowances and wage increases have suddenly made everyone go on a spending spree! Even done it myself, buying stuff I've been relunctant to buy since Xmas or even before.

Packet prices are going up quite substantially at the end of the month and I think thats why there is a rush on them. All the ebayers (buyers and sellers) are trying to get their transactions done before the new prices hit.

With the tax changes and pay rises usually around April I guess we are having a "Perfect Packet Storm"

After asking at my office , no they dont count them per round , only the amount of Yorks coming into the office.
Which makes timing of rounds by planners for P/O a WASTE OF TIME.
Even 120 knocks on the door docketing or not most wednesdays and thursdays is at least 2 hours added on to my round of 4 hours 15 mins even if you only allow for 1 minute per call.
Then you have 8 loops into 120 packets averaging 15 packets per loop and they then wonder why 1 cant complete my 900 calls
