Can anybody tell me when you can self order shoes? Some saying six months, others saying a year.

My doc martin shoes lasted just over a year and manager O.K a new pair. Don't forget shoes are 'safety equipment'! Theres a box on the accident at work report sheet asking " RM shoes being worn?" RM want to avoid compo!

You cant order them yourself as they need a managers nod. So may as well get them to do it.

You should order new boots or shoes before the tread on your current pair has dissapeared or well before your current boots disintegrate (and they will if you are a delivery postie !) I go through at least 3 pairs of Magnum Boots per year and if Uniform Line won't take my order my manager orders for me. Magnum boots are comfy, light and give good ankle support. If stairs form much or most of your delivery then I'd recommend boots.

Wrong! I ordered a new pair of CAT trainers myself yesterday. No problem!

I stand to be corrected but I was under the impression that only if you ordered more than one pair within a twelve month period did you need a manager's authority.
I've always ordered my shoes directly without the need to involve a line manager (though making them last 12 months can be challenging.

)

Thanks for the help.
I think 12 months is ridiculous for a delivery postie, it should be 6-9 months. My own shoes barely last a year, how are shoes for delivery supposed to last that long?

They told me it was TWO years! They DIDN'T tell me you good have shoes and boots at the same time.

I just ring up when the soles go smooth, if they say no, I get manager to get me them.

All foot ware is under PPE (personal protective equipment) so if they argue just remind them that we have to ware the foot ware supplied by the Business let them know yours is worn out they will order them,staff are going through a pair of CAT Trainers every 3 months it's all the walking we do.

I had 3 days off once because the LM didn't both to do the order so I didn't have anything to wear.
