what charity are you gonna pick folks?

Got the charity flyer through this week they are all great charitys but the kids get my vote every time! what about you folks?

SAdly, cannot pick them all, but tend to go for children and the elderly--who in my humble opinion are the most neglegted of all!

- which is just as essential as the road ambulance, so why rely on charity donations for it instead of better using some of the tax we pay on them rather than funding bankers or buying more helicopters for the MOD ?

I'm going for the prostate one as it is affecting my bladder and I may need an operation to remove the prostate gland.Scans have shown no signs of cancer but you never know what may happen in the future.

It's to make us all feel good about actually deciding something ourselves overlooking the fact that we have no say whatsoever about anything of any real importance to do with our employment.
The same with all those stupid TV programmes with voting by the public who then can't be bothered to make their way to a polling station and end up, egged on by the Daily Mail, moaning about all the wrong decisions made by politicians.

I think this is the line of questioning our union should be taking instead of once again kowtowing to corporate sensibilities which maintain the imbalances and injustices within in our divided communities and society.To agree to another layer of competition and play Simon Cowell with the shortcomings of an economic system where even in western democracies wages for the majority of working people have fallen against GDP since the 1980s is trying to put the fire out with gasoline.There are now more charities than ever before and the question our union should be asking is why is this case.So yes help and get involved with good causes but also put this in some sort of ideological context otherwise its S&M morality.

I'm no longer with RM but I used to give my widow's mite to Barnardo's ,a pound a week out of my pay didnt seem much but im sure it was put to good use.I know some of my colleagues in addition used to give a donation to the Rowland Hill trust and in retrospect I wish I had as well.Posties tend to be quite generous souls and do a lot for local causes and many like running so I would give a fiver rather than per mile if they were seeking sponsorship for a local charity run.

Thers's too many, most of the cash goes on swanky hq furniture like rm, expensive shop fittings and manager's bonuses ,but i'm picking alzheimers disease as i'm sure it will benefit a lot of posties in the years to come!
