Hi all

Just found out my day off is monday which is the bank hoilday , can i get paid for the day off instead of have to take the days hoilday another time ? I would like to have the day off in the week like other people but he say aint got the staff. the duty im going to be on should be a saturday off but he has changed.

I work in a mail centre. What happens in my place if that happens is that you get pro-rata credit, based on a 5-day week.

So I have a 16-hour contract. Divide that by 5, I get a three hours and change credit. (It sounds like a rip-off but since I only work Saturdays and Sundays. I wind up getting an extra weekend off over the course of a year.) Maybe it works something like that in your place?

If cover/reserves are doing Bobs duty this or next week,he 'should' get Bob's day off,and Sue's,and Tarquin's,and...

if our day falls on a bank holiday we are being told we have to wait until next years holiday list to book odd day due is this right ?

Yeah Apparently so, you cannot have the day off until next years holidays 2013/14, its a disgrace, i think it because they hope most of us wont remember and they get an extra free day out of people, record it somewhere, make sure you dont miss it.

It's always been the default position that if your day off falls on a bank holiday it goes into the following year's allocation.
In the case of Bank Holiday's falling during annual leave it is usually allocated the same year.
The reason for the difference was that the system throws up an immediate collision when annual leave is imputed on a Bank Holiday week but day's off are not on the same system.
It may have changed under the PSP system....i have no idea.
In our office if you ask for it and it's available or can be covered you get it back the same year.

Weekly actual worked hours should be 32 (i.e. they should not be working Tu-Sat on duty, but this depends locally, but can be challenged correctly if you do not want to work the mandatory overtime)

BH credits should be credited to the same year, otherwise you could be in a position where you are illegal for not having taken enough annual leave.

You only need to take 4 weeks leave to be compliant with European Law.
You could argue that it's without your consent,that would be down to contractual T&C's though.

You should get 2 options a day on next years leave or the docket for your duty time,which should be paid the following week,thats how it works at my DO and should be the same for everyone.

yes but i meant the postie who does their days off floating duty set in stone if hes due to do bobs on sat bob cant do that duty on sat cause the floating guys on it so what happens .?

Exactly,there must be a lot of bumping happening,either the rest day cover gets bumped or the reserve gets bumped to another duty.
Seems a lot of hassle for the screws just to do over a reserve.
