More planning for revisions

‘For all revisions now, we are devoting twice the level of planning resource that we did initially.

‘We are making a big investment and withdrawing key people form the office to concentrate on delivering change.

‘Accurate planning is the foundation upon which we can build successful change.’

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

The problem with all this science is that most forget at steps 2 is what Royal Mail could get as an a saving if the office hit 100 BSI and steps 3 and 4 are there is negotiate and make manuel changes to the plan.

In London we can demonstrate that all the revisions which have gone in are negotitated and have reduced the phase 2 target at the end of the day the planner can do what he wants , the reps job is to get the best deal he can and to say no if he does not believe he can get the best deal and use the framework.

With all the failed revisions out there , the CWU are in a strong postion and should only agree what they believe is acceptable to the work force. Every revision must be subject to a vote of the membership.

Dingo, if the cwu had negotiated hard and fast rules for change nationally, and not left everything to local negotiation, leaving offices with weaker union reps/membership open to abuse, we would not be in the mess we are in now. Yes, each office is different and there has to be allowances for local situations, but Royal Mail has singled out the weak and the agreement is so open to interpretation, and in particular the Subs seem to be totally open to local management interpretation.

A 'genuine' 100Bs should not even be targetted for delivery units, it should be 75Bs as with other industries who are not on performance related incentives and as with Mail Centres !

I think most people miss the point altogether. You can only go so far with cutting staff/duties, then it has to stop, cease, end.

Management cannot keep making cuts indefinately. As a result of cutting too far, too deep, we are beginning to see what the inevitable result is....Catastrophe in deliveries, leading to a poor service that has no place in any century, let alone the 21st.

Cuts to frontline staff, to duties in delivery, has to stop.

Lucky you, Dingo. This is a different world to the one I work in.
Vote? What vote? The revision has been implemented without any input, let alone vote, from us whatsoever.
Approach the Union rep and were told “there’s no alternative, put up with it!” Disappointed, disgruntled, dis-heartened – yes. Still a member of the Union – yes.
But where is our representation?

It's nice of all those members to sacrifice themselves in failed Joint CWU/RM revisions to put those still waiting for a revision in a strong position.
It does make it clear why some areas have stalled for so long though.
Do you think other areas will ever tire of being the guinea pigs or....sacrificial lambs to the slaughter?

Maybe....just maybe the joint RM/CWU top priority should be fixing those failed revisions rather than putting double the planning resource into driving forward with more.
I personally know of two failed revisions in my area which have been denied the planning resource to fix problems because as they say the show must go on.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Aye that I am.

The date arrived and went with no sign of any planners and no explanation from the powers that be. It was expected that this would happen as the DOM has been after confirmation that planning would start but couldnt get it. No explanation has been given an therefore we are totally in the dark as to why no planners have arrived and when they will.

Surely by now you'd think the powers that be could tell that all's not well in the state of Denmark.

Had input - yes, vote - nooo.. It's coming in on this date, get on with it.

Input is all well and good but without testing the routes prior to going live then problems will and do occur. They did come out with some bullshit about tweaking walks after the revision has come in :left: I won't hold my breath!!

Just as well, our tweaking has taken 16 months.
