We have just been told that that our rural duties will not be revised by georoute but instead will go through a "tabletop" revision which leaves them open to interpretation. Is this happening nationwide or is this a local issue?

Bit of both, in that it is being done nationally as in all over the country but is not universal. Rather they generally do table tops as a stop gap before another revision, or because there are not enough planners available.

I didn't think Georoute could do rurals.
That was the big f**k up in South West Scotland.
It doesn't let you turn right - or am I getting confused?

Is it possible that this is due to Georoute not giving RM the outcome they desired and they have decided to go down the tabletop route as it gives them a better opportunity to fabricate the results that they seek. One of the more disturbing aspects of this is that despite the length of time that has been spent on this revision and with less than 10 weeks until implementation, this week was the first time that the tabletop issue has been mentioned. It is also disapointing to note that our area union rep has not questioned this and appears to be happy to go down this road.

Could be a good sign. Table top revisions can be both the worst idea and the best idea, it all depends on circumstances. Not knowing your ADR I can't make a personal judgement but if it was my ADR and he had full involvement with input from duty holders I would be okay with it.
