resign question!

we started van share last july, at the same time we had a mini resign, and my partner and i became full time. we have become best friends and work together very well.our office is going though a full resign at the moment,my partner and i have become reserve(that was the deal to become full time!).my question is, is it to late to go back to part time and stay in van share my best friend?.ive had a chat with my manager/union rep,but not having much progress(only promises to help!) any one got any ideas or have i blown it!!?

1. If you go back to part time it might mean the possibility of being on a full time wage has gone forever.
Do you want to be a part time postman for the rest of your life?
2. If you do go back to part time, what guarantee do you have that you will be on the same duty as your BFF.
3. What if you fall out. It happens.

thank you all for your feedback it has given me pause for thought! my other worry is on reserve you are the office dogsbody and you HAVE to work with whoever your manager says,but at the same time i AM FULL TIME i suppose i cant have everything!! the part timers in our office have got all the best duties,2 of them have taken our duty,but good point about having a fall out with my bff!!,its just that since we started van share i cannot wait to go to work!!!(very sad i know)!!

as an after thought,a lot of posties at our office havent had much of a choice who to sign with !there are at least 2 partners who are dreading working together! the resign starts 23 april so what chance do they have? they hate each other BEFORE it even starts!!

i still go and talk to my bff in the office,but is usually discussing her "new" duty with her "new" partner(the resign starts 23april but we were the first to be "split" up 8 weeks ago!!!!!) what meal break??

ha ha very funny!!! she is also a reserve so doesnt have a "regular" partner, she does a different duty every week(so do i) so its the nature of the job to discuss the duty you are on with your current partner.the partner i have got this week has been off sick for 4 months with work related stress!!!

she is a good worker.gets on with her job,very quiet in the office,but has me in "tears" with laughter in the van.what more can you ask for in a van share partner!!
