If your hours are 8am to 3pm they can within reason (ie, you have had the correct training etc) do basically whatever they want with you within those hours.

Thanks for the answers, I figured that was the case. I don't mind the switch that's been made it's just this particular manager has been a real bastard as of late and I'm loving every chance I get to be a real bastard back...
