If this a duty or job as such does it not need to be advertised so everyone who may be interested has a crack at it? not just the chosen!!
I'm the Rep and was asked today about this, i don't know!

Stay well away from it, it doesn't work and when it eventually goes pear shaped you'll only get some of the blame

At Bristol Mail Centre the permanent wcm jobs were not advertised for open competition. The jobs were quietly filled using managers relations, the pets and ex acting managers.

I would imagine that these are temporary project roles and as such OPGs should be withdrawn based on their capabilities to cover them. But like other areas of selection in RM it is often the case that the process is not objective and certainly not transparent. At the Mount Pleasant it was common practise to withdraw OPGs for project work often for a very long time and whilst there is no doubt that some of these added value to the tasks they were given others were simply blue eyes boys and girls (trying to be polite here and not use the words brown, tongue, nose and ar$e

As a side note, since you are the rep, conference policy is of non-participation in WCM, where it has been rolled out from march 2011 (phase 5 and onward sites).
In sites prior to that date, it is of minimal participation.
There were several LTB's about it, and a good letter to circulate on the one from September.
