unfair distribution of overtime

I wonder if anyone from the union can help me with a problem that has arisen in our office .We have just over 80 people working at our delivery office of which I would estimate 85% are drivers .Of course being drivers they maintain a good standard of living with collection overtime etc .There has been a recent input of early morning ips into the office from Wednesday to Saturday ( only 20 hours per week in total ) . I Feel this overtime should be offered to the non drivers who are taking home a basic wage each week . However I was told by my union rep that all overtime is open to everyone so we have the totally unfair situation of drivers on an average of 12 to 15 hours overtime each week fighting over the few hours available to non drivers .I always thought that the c.w.u stood for fairness in the workplace and would be grateful if anyone knows the unions policy on the distribution of overtime .

That "overtime is open to everyone" is evidently the CWU's policy on this.
How about offering to drive to stand a chance of getting more overtime ?

I've got to say, if you're saying that nearly all of the drivers are on 12hrs+ OT a week, why is the rep not trying to promote PT to FT and get extra staff into the office?
What we do in our office if there are more OPG who want OT, is to use a rota so everyone gets a fair crack at OT.

have they considered using a totals system? whereby those who have performed the least overtime will get first preference? know its not perfect but too much of this abuse goes on all across the country...

Dvb, Meniere's is an awful illness that has many stages,some people get it infrequently and lead `normal` lives,some people have it really bad that puts them on the floor as with alot of illness,it's what affects people on an individual basis.

The condition affects people differently; it can range in intensity from being a mild annoyance to a chronic, lifelong disability .
- a bit like marriage then and that doesn't stop many of us driving .

there should be an aggregate system in place which takes account of OT done in all the offices/areas. this should be easier to keep track of when they have PSP at your office

Ideally everyone that wished would have a full time contract and wages would be such that none of us wanted or needed overtime.

Our office has an overtime list, it's the same people all of the time and no one seems to speak out against it.

aggregate list is mandatory. if not being used put in a grievance against whoever issue's o/t.
