Any financial support available?

Hi everyone, looking for a bit of help for one of my members.

Basically in the last few weeks he has found out that his wife is seriously ill and needs to be in and out hospital at regular intervals.
This leaves him needing to be off work to look after his two young children.
RM have allowed him this time when he needs it, but it has been unpaid leave.
My question is, would there be any financial support available?
Other than point him in the direction of the HELP phone line with a view to getting help from the Rowland Hill fund, is there anything else anyone could think of?
Is there any kind of similar hardship fund from the CWU?
Does anyone know if there are any benefits available, if you are forced to take unpaid leave from work?

The CWU has a National Welfare fund and the indivdual member can with the support of their Branch request a donation from this fund. The amount given will depend on the circumstance but it has to have the support of your Branch.

Our Branch have had a couple of these requests in the last few months, so it's worth giving it a whirl.
