been in the job many years,our uniform is the worst ever in all the years ive worked especially the footwear,ive no tread on my footwear at present,rang uniform this afternoon need some new trousers,told on phone they have to last 2 years,summer we only get issued 1 pair of shorts,my last footwear i got was november i was told i the phone i mentioned to the lady my soles are hanging off,she said ask my dom to ring tomorrow,felt i got treated like i was a liar or something,what a joke .

We are walking further than ever so it stands to reason footwear will run out quicker! I know the tread does go quicker than it used to, certainly found that this last year or so.
It is a pain in the arse but see your DOM, if your tread is bad or soles hanging off he'll have no choice but to sort it (health and safety and all that)

Two years for trousers? Mine started to wear at the side quite quickly get me a new pair or I'll be indecent at some point

Personally I wouldn't bother phoning the uniform "helpline". They are never any help.
None of the uniform lasts as long as they say.
Tell a manger what you need and let them do it.
Can't they do it on the intranet or something?

i think you can order 3 pairs but this is either shorts or trousers, so you use your allocation on what you want, didn't know they had to last 2 years though mine looked fooked after a few weeks

But I wouldn't wear the yellow one, try the luminous blue one. Unless you've got pink.

On a side note, I get the DOM to order all my uniform. It's not as if he hasn't got the time.

We have so many people who's footwear aren't lasting the 2 years and the DOM is having to order them under other postmen's names just to get them .
Its the same for shirts, OK if you had 5 shirts for one a day but when you only have 3 and they get washed twice a week they are not going to last.
I had one of my shirts ripped by scrap metal in someones garden, what are we to do sew them up??

They'll come out with some crazy scheme of giving people vans and trollies and delivering mail later and.. Oh sorry, I'm a couple of days late for April fools.

Think the powers that be tend to forget that some people deliver in areas where their footwear take a real pounding! I often have to walk ankle deep in water in some areas, not to mention the streets littered with broken glass etc.
Add to that the poor quality of the rest of the uniform-----

dunno about that, mine rusted beyond being use-able within a couple of months
