i ask this because in our DO they like to collapse 2 duties in each section.

so today i was on one of the larger duties in the office, no biggie done it a few times so i kind of know it... my P&L partner did not, so while i had my frame prepared and tied up by about 9 my partner didnt get tied up until about 10. the manager then said "oh well take your collapsed off you" which helped i guess.

with the van loaded and ready to go our dom comes out and says "i see your going to be late back, i want to be gone for 2.30" and hands over a key for the office so we can bring stuff back.

so after all that we eventually got delivering at 10.20 ish and got back to the office at 4pm, so back to my original question.

Saturdays are a normal working day, the amount we get is somewhere in between a Monday and a Wednesday so not great. The difference is we get out earlier but the walk takes the same amount of time.

Collapsing though, and working until 4pm? No thanks, I thought finishing at 12-12.30 was bad

well usually itll be 12.30-1pm on a saturday but today seemed to be that day when everything went to pot

Saturdays are just a normal day, if you don't want to do any OT then just leave stuff behind, don't take a refusal from your manager just tell them firmly that you can't work any later than your time and let him sort it out.

cutting off would be a lot easier if;
1. wasn't P&L would need partner to want to cut off too
2. if i wasn't on a temporary contract, dont want to rock the boat and not have a job at the end of my contract

1. No you dont need partner to cut off, inform manager before you go out your cutting off and then its up to manager to sort it. If your partner wants to stay out till 4 then let them but you dont have to
2. Yeah i totally understand your worry bout temp contract, rm the twats use it to bascially bully you to do like you said. Will say though that you could work your arse off as a temp contract but still get the push at the end.

There was a thing in the last Courier (can't remember what page it was on) that the timespan for Mailsort 3 is being changed to 4 days so chances are that you'll eventually have to deliver it on Saturdays.

The manager probably also likes everyone to be done early as if people are finishing early he's showing that there is scope for more lapsing

Going back a few years and I'd be finished at 10? on a Saturday... Sat workload has definitely increased but has fallen on Thursdays & Fridays.

We take everything as well, i'm amazed offices are still leaving mail on Saturdays. Our hours are exactly the same as Wed-Fri, 6.45-14.45, it's a normal working day in every respect apart from we get out around 30-60 mins earlier.

In our office Saturdays are just another working day 645-1445. There's plenty to clear and it all needs clearing.

Unless you're a manager covering a cutoff or OT duty - then you can filter out packets, recordeds, mailsort and downstream access.
