My manager watched and noted down my bag weights because we have been cutting off a lot.
Walker had 9 bags ( 3 overweight).
Our cut off time was 13.45pm and we got out at 10.20pm.
He said will you complete??
Cut off 4 bags, and all the packets, they havent got a clue

As such a pouch weight sampling strategy and checking system was developed which went away from individuals weighing and recording their own pouch weights on record sheets and instead introduced a random sampling process whereby typically, sampling will be carried out by management on a daily basis with in the range of 5 -15% of all the walks at each Delivery Office. Under the process, as a minimum, the DOM will ensure that a sample of 5 -15% of all Delivery Rounds or a minimum 2 - 4 full delivery walks per day will have all pouches weighed, checked and recorded on the new pro-forma provided by the Delivery Office Manager or the delivery person's immediate supervisor.

that wasnt the reason they weighed our bags , it was because we are always cutting off but it fell down on them badly cos the walker had over 100kg of mail to deliver for his 8 loops in 3 hours .
When the DOM said we should get that lot done on the P/L round he didnt realise it was only the walkers mail, he thought it was the drivers as well

Sounds about right eastie...Most managers(?) couldn't find their own butt with both hands.....Sounds like he's just trying to intimidate you into completing......I expect the next move will be trying to get you on Non-Culpable Inefficiency, that's our DIMs buzz word when anyone starts talking about cutting off.

As to judging weights Slave..I agree it's damn near impossible. I normally assume a bag will take me 40 mins to and hour, I've found it a pretty accurate gauge over the years.

Nice quote FT, were does it come from? Are these checks meant to be carried out by Management on a daily basis? If they are I assume they have to be reported as completed. I've NEVER ever seen a Manager doing this...perhaps it would take up too much of their valuable time.
