URGENT APPEAL – TRAGIC DEATH OF MEMBER’S DAUGHTER
Please see attached an appeal letter from the Doncaster & District Amal Branch. Branches are requested to give consideration to making a donation to assist the family during this very traumatic time.
You would want to know that the General Secretary has written to the family sending heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Union.
Cheques should be forwarded directly to CWU Headquarters, Senior Deputy General Secretary’s Department – made payable to CWU but clearly identified as “Casey Kearney Appeal”.

URGENT APPEAL
We are launching and urgent appeal on behalf of the family of Casey-Lyanne Kearney the 13 year old girl who was murdered on 12th February 2012. Members of her family including her mother, Mary Morgan, work at the Doncaster Mail Centre and are members of the Doncaster & District Amalgamated Branch.
Tragically, Casey-Lyanne was stabbed and left to die in a park in Doncaster as she was making her way to her friend's house during the school holidays.
There have been some money raising events and candle lit vigils for Casey-Lyanne and we would like to help with the financial impact this will have on the devastated family.
It is for this reason that we are launching this urgent appeal to assist this family during this difficult time. The CWU has a great tradition of helping those in difficulty when they most need it; indeed these are the principles that underpin our trade union work on a day to day basis.
We are appealing to Branches to consider helping Casey-Lyanne's distraught family during what is clearly a very traumatic time.
Donations should be forwarded directly to CWU HQ, Senior Deputy General Secretary’s dept. Cheques should be made payable to CWU but be clearly identified “Casey Kearney Appeal”.
