5 weeks into revision

Already managers and the union rep are telling us not to use the trolleys. Apparently if the bags are under 9kg that we don't need them. Is this not totally going against what the revisions were all about. Why did they not just stop people going out with ridiculous amounts of weight on there backs. Today was first day back after having a weeks holiday and I can honestly say I hate my job now.

Do you really think these morons would waste 30 seconds at a pouch box when they can jam it all in one bag?
The deal was removing all the weight from our backs not some of it,unless you're putting a box in for every bundle and a mobile one for packets i'm not interested.

I agree that if the agreement states what delivery methods should be used, a manager, nor a union rep has the right to override this. However I have grave concerns over the welfare of staff over the long term using a LWT. What investigations have Royal Mail or the CWU done to look into the long term effects of using a LWT which does not take weight off the skeletal frame, and means far more bending to get down into the bags to drag out mail and packets. They are totally disfunctional on snow/frozen surfaces, and I believe an individual does have a right under health and safety grounds to refuse to use this type of delivery method if he/she has a genuine concern regarding health/physical impairments.

I don't think anybody is using the trolleys in our office , and nor the rep or the managers are bothered, its taking me and my driver roughly about 4hr 50m to do two deliveries that's not including packets we simply haven't got the time.

Amazing how so far downhill this bleeding job has gone, and in relatively so short a time. Many of us hate the job now, mate.

Its not just about weight, the trollies are to enable you to take as many packets as possible without having to cover the same ground in a van. Once over the ground is supposed to still be the order of the day!

And has georoute included time to balance the amount of mail/packets on each side of the trolley. I can see a lot of trolleys toppling over on ground that is not exactly flat if we are to carry sizeable amount of packets around. Surely that is the advantage of having vans.

My trolley only falls over if I have to bump it down a kerb. Idiot planners don't take into account dropped kerbs, well they did'nt in my office.
