Moya Yesterday announce her vision for Royal Mail going forward.

She had three themes 1st was to be brilliant at the basics , 2 was to build a commercial future and then the 3rd was to drive profitable growth.

With regards to the first she believed that the pace of modernisation has to increasen and delivery what we promise.

The second part she explained was to de regulate the industry as much as possible and today's announcements on price rise recognise that stamp mail has been a lost maker for Royal Mail to the tune of 200 million per year. DSA will go up by 7 to 8% but she said there was a limit to what Royal Mail can risk encouraging and end to end service by increasing DSA as TNT has already got plans to have 13000 people delivering to 40% per cent of urban areas over the next 4 years and these would not delivery 6 days per week but just one or two days per week and only the profitable part of the mails. She said that there was no safe level of end to end competition and she was putting pressure on Of com to stop it. Packets were loss making and the pricing will be changed to size based in due course but she still did not think they would make a profit on packets or parcels till two years time.

She said the plan was to restructure the balance sheet and obviously the EU state issue has helped this.

In addition she really pushed hard on the fact she supported privatisation and set out the timescales for this. She said it would take 6 months or more for Royal Mail to get a higher ratting which would attract people and without it there was no way the government can go for a IPO and she was aiming at the earliest late 2013 but more likely the first quarter of 2014 which happens to be general election year.

On the third point going for growth she set out the following that she wanted Royal Mail to go for more premier products. but the main two areas she highlighted for growth was packets and parcels. Last Christmas on line shopping meant Royal Mail handled 79 million packets and had to turn customers away. She said the company needed 700 million for packet automation.

The other area which She says Royal Mail will be targeting is advertising mail be that door to door or addressed advertising. Last year she said Royal Mail lost 200 million on door to door and was losing market share. She said it likely managers in here did not see that door to door should be treated equally to other mail and said the same could,be said for postmen and women. She said that had to change and argued why should it be more important to deliver a bill to,someone than a leaflet trying to sell someone something. in other countries she argued that this was not the case.

She said to tackle this and compete Royal Mail was senting up a madia company which would take an integrated approach and that the market for door to door and addressed advertising was worth 1.7 billion and Royal Mail's share was just 800 million and this needed to grow and that was priority including tackling the mindset.

other managers announced that the pace of revisons had to increase, that accidents had halved with 3800 less accidents and 29000 days more worked as a result of no accidents and in 15 mail centres no accidents were reported this year.

Rob Jenson announced that Royal Mail had gone over its target for walk sequencing to 26% and every 1% increase would be worth 5 million saving. Plus they eliminated 7000 Indivduals using private cars and taken out 8500 bikes and reduced the amount of thefts and accidents as a result.

Is it a basic human right to be able to earn a living without being bullied and harassed? If it is lets get brilliant at that basic one first. All the rest I couldn't give a s**t about until everyone is brilliantly not being bullied.

Whatever goes on in your DO Bullying and harassment is common place at mine. And yes I have tried to address it with the union. The conditions are not acceptable in other national companies - with privatisation coming soon it will be very interesting to see how the bullying culture is managed then.

My thought exactly (along with the posties who don't do them), they may be a pain but it's just work and when you get your head around that everything becomes easier.

Too much work then cut off or book OT but get them delivered.

Not to be picky but 2014 isn't General Election year.
Thanks to the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011,the date of the next General Election is set in stone at 7 May 2015.
The only way around that would be a vote of no confidence or a two-thirds majority resolution neither of which is likely.

Funny enough yesterday there was a question on Scotland's independence and what would happen and Moya Greene said we don't make any money in Scotland and she said she had told Alex Salmon that at least Scotland would have to pay international rates for any delivery into England ,Wales or Northern Ireland

With every speach the Moya give's, It becomes clearer & clearer that all she cares about is PROFIT.

The CWU will rue the day that they decided to jump into bed with her.

She'll wisper sweet nothings into the cwu's ear, but will dump them as soon as she dosen't get get her own way.

Privatisation and the lure of Profit ( and the resulting big bonus's that follow ) are her aim, then she'll leave for pastures new.

And we who are left behind will pay the price.

Cut of King no one is jumping in bed with anyone. However many times the likes of Postman asked has anyone heard what happened at the management event etc. This time we know and some of it is not good and needs to be opposed but do you really think by not going to an event like yesterday and or today would damage Royal Mail's plans.

No it wouldn't dingo but going damages the union's credibility with the rank and file and whether you think that is right or wrong it should be taken in to account.
Everything the union is doing right now could be 100% the right thing to do,,,only time will tell but if you forget to take the membership with you it will not only count for nothing it will do irreparable damage to the relationship between grass roots and HQ which is already shaky at best.
There is a deep rooted perception within the membership of an arrogance at HQ and an overeagerness to please our employer.
That may be completely false but it doesn't matter in the slightest because the perception exists and being wined and dined by management even if it is only tea and biscuits....only serves to feed that perception.
