holiday question

Something reminded me on another thread about holidays for 32 hour a week part time staff of which I am one.
When we started revision I had to change from 4 days at 8 hours to 5 days at 6 hours 20-30mins.
Now if I have say 23 days holiday a year surely I am losing out as now I have 23 days x 6.30 hours rather than 23 days at 8 hours.
I make it I am losing 34.50 hours a year in holiday or am I wrong ?

Think they changed the way it's worked out, now done on hours worked rather than days worked.

I think you may have been getting too many days when you were on a 4 day week eastie.
23 days is the equivalent of 5.75 weeks to a five day a week job.
Were you entitled to 5.75 weeks?

I have worked for RM about 8 years as a 32 hours part time permanent LTPT and get 23.5 days per year holiday with 2 days bank holiday credits, dont know if thats included in the 23.5 or not for 2012/3 annual leave

You shouldn't have had 23 days on a 4 day week.
You should only have had 19 days.
Time to keep and they don't come after you.
Guys with 20 years service only get 24 days on a 4 day week.

it may have been down to Bank holiday credits as I worked Mondays and that might have been added to the total

Yeah you have been getting too many holidays, u should have only been getting 17 and a quarter days as that's the pro rata amount for 30 hours on a 8 hour day

Just looked at my contract.
On my contract dated November 2004
it states that I am eligable for 4 weeks 3 1/2 days after 5 years service so 23.5 is right for a 32 hour

how is that to many holidays ? 17 anda qtr for 30 hours a week? where u gettin that from everyone gets 23 odd

So a saturday only worker gets 23.5 days holiday.

I am entitled due to my contract in 2004 to get 4 weeks and 3 1/2 days at 8 hours per day holiday and now I only get the same amount of days for 6.50 hours a day, so I am losing 34.5 hours a year holiday

How many weeks is 23.5 days on a 5 day week eastie?
You are not losing anything.
When you were on a 4 day week you were getting too many days....that's all.
None of it matters anyway because your holidays will now be calculated in hours.
You will start with 142.4hrs.....23.5x6.4
If you want a day off it will cost 6.4hrs....32/5
If you want a week off it will cost 32hrs.

Unless you actually got paid more on your weeks off than when you were working then you still only got 32 hours holiday per week. All they have done is change the fact that the 32 hours is now spread over 5 days instead of 4 as it used to be.

If you base it on hours you have neither lost or gained you have mistakenly thought you got 8 hours for 5 days when in fact you got 4 days at 8 hours when on leave. You will never be paid more on a holiday week than you earn on your basic week. If you check the whole contract it will state somewhere that entitlements are based on a pro-rata 40 hour week.
