Buying annual leave

I have a 32 hour contract and i pay £9.13 a week for two weeks extra leave in a year. I found out that a colleague in my office does the same thing but she pays about 4 quid a week less, she does the same hours as me. Does anyone know if i'm overpaying or does it seem the normal amount? Thought i'd ask on here before I give payroll a ring.

It could be a length of service thing.

Up to 6 weeks or 30 days is the maximum holiday entitlement you can have so the amount you will pay depends on your basic entitlement which is..

Start......22.5days
5 years...23.5 days
15 years..26 days
20 years..30 days

I've been there four years mate so i would get the minimum if i didn't buy leave. The lady i work with started the same time as me so not sure why she's paying less. I'll ring them up tomorrow.

If you're paying £9.13 a week that's £474 a year for 7.5 days or 48hrs so it sounds about right.
It actually sounds like your colleague is underpaying so she needs to be careful she doesn't end up with a massive overpayment bill.
If her circumstances are exactly the same as yours and she's only paying a fiver a week i think she needs to get in touch with payroll.

yes cant you buy upto five weeks or five weeks and a day ?

Due to being put on a four day week by this park and loop bollox,I have been told that when I book a holiday it counts as five days and not 4,just another con trick by Royal Mail,so they say I get 30 days holiday when infact I get 24 days ain't life grand!

Bring on has it smack on - Royal Mail do holidays based on hours now so everyone who get the old 6 weeks holiday will now get 240/234 hours.

Now if you work a 4 day week as opposed to a 5 day week you may think you get 1 less day per holiday but in fact you both use the same 39/40 hours of your entitlement.

Right so the person who covers my job for 6 weeks a year will have his holiday reduced by a percentage then,also due to the fact that we are waiting for a repick and have been for about 5 months all the holiday I take before counts as 4 day weeks and all the holiday afterwards counts as 5 day weeks because I am not stopping on this job.

the maths is the same - in a week off whether you are a 4 day or 5 day 30 hour contract - you still only use 30 hours of your 180 hours yearly entitlement.
