1 in 4 Saturday's

Our revision had been put back again , but when it eventually comes in i have been told the the dom that if we vote in the 1 in 4 Saturday's that we will lose full time positions , i believe this is bull s***. Anybody had experience of this ?

Business Transformation 2010 states :

"Full time employees will retain full time status unless they volunteer to move to part time hours".

The duty patterns you wish to choose are being "influenced" by management. You see the pattern chosen will be their pattern. This is why they want things to stay as they are. Also their rotas will not be the same. For example the 9 day fortnight mean 9 to 10 hours per day,( this would include managers). However WE receive the 4 days off....they don't. Just one day off per week as normal.

In Huddersfield we are going through the preference exercise and we have 4 duty patterns 1 of which involves 1 in 4 Saturdays and we have been told this will increase FT positions overall, but may reduce numbers in total.

The other duties patterns are 9 Day ones or 1 in 3 weeks.

The only thing that really influences the FT/PT ratio is the delivery span.
The rest is just a smokescreen.

In Huddersfield we are going through the preference exercise and we have 4 duty patterns 1 of which involves 1 in 4 Saturdays and we have been told this will increase FT positions overall, but may reduce numbers in total.

Yep thats one of the options and the other 2 patterns are 9 day fortnights. Don't look good to me 52 hour weeks x 3 just to get the 4th off

as our duties have just changed to 1 in 4 and i have lost my duty and am now a reserve am i entitled to 1 in 4 as the agreement says.

Royal Mail and CWU commit to achieving at least 1 in 4 Saturdays off for the majority of employees (including reserves) during the roll out of the operational transformation programme.

I wonder what RM calls a majority when it says we will get at least 1 in 4 off..?

Have to say some duty lengths for having these 1in4s are crap, so maybe it's not all it's cracked up to be...
