phone calls while delivering

Getting a lot of complaints this morning regarding managers phoning people up whilst they are delivering. The managers want to know how much they will cut off etc, surely this should be sorted before commencing delivery. I want to tell the guys not to answer their phones and if managers want to make contact they should do so via the PDA. Thoughts anyone?

I guess it depends on how its done.... things do change on the road but I wouldn't expect multiple calls or any harranging to complete.

I use call screening, (problem solved), and here they block broadcasting the number so it comes up as "Private" or "Unknown", as I don't appreciate old calling they've solved the problem for me.

Someone once told me theyre not allowed to phone you if they know you could be driving.

Not sure if thats accurate

I just ignore it if I see its the office calling

I believe the document relating to overrunning deliveries, states that there should be an agreed time between the deliverer and lino when he can call you to see how you are getting on and how much will be coming back.

It doesn't,it's the other way round...
a) If an individual is prevented from completing their delivery for any reason, it is essential that this is reported immediately either by returning to the office or by telephone (telephone costs will be refunded).

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

We had a 'huddle' couple of days back telling us we're not allowed to use mobile phones while driving then same day two calls from the office, one call from the Lino who gave us the lecture on it :hmmmm

Had a look at DVLA i wonder if they realise they can be prosecuted for expecting us to recieve calls when they know full well you could be driving.
If you're an employer, you can be prosecuted if you ask your employees to make or receive calls while driving.
